Get a Recto licence
Recto is free to read, import, search, highlight, annotate and browse your annotation list — forever. A licence unlocks the AI features: Ask AI, AI re-chaptering, in-book chat, and the AI call behind AI arrange (applying its suggestions is free). The licence does not include model usage: AI requests use your own API key and are billed by your provider.
The licence does not expire, is not tied to a device, and can be reactivated after reinstalling Windows. One licence is for one person.
Invite a friend: during the launch offer, one successful referral makes your own licence free. After the offer, the inviter gets half price. See the referral section below.
The trial is built in, for everyone. Install Recto and use the AI features for 7 days — no email, no card, no trial code to request. The trial starts on your first successful AI request, so you can set up an API key first. After 7 days the AI features lock; reading, importing, highlights, notes, the annotation list and search keep working, and nothing is deleted.
Using a version of Recto from before this update? Older builds do not have the built-in trial. Email GeRui2936@163.com and we will send you a 7-day trial code.
How it works
- Install Recto from the Microsoft Store. The 7-day trial starts automatically on your first successful AI request.
- Use it normally for a week — import your conversations, ask AI about passages, re-chapter a book. No payment has happened at this point.
- If it is worth keeping, pay $9.99 with PayPal and email the receipt, plus the address you want printed on the licence, to GeRui2936@163.com. If PayPal asks you to choose a payment type, pick “Paying for an item or service” — that choice is covered by PayPal Buyer Protection.
- You receive a permanent licence code, usually within one working day. Paste it in Settings → Licence → Activate. Activation is offline; no account, no activation server.
If the launch offer has ended by the time you pay, the regular price applies. The offer card above is the source of truth for the current price.
Invite a friend — the inviter gets the reward
When your friend buys, they must give your email address or licence ID in the email with their receipt. A referral without one does not count.
- During the launch offer: the inviter receives a free licence. If the inviter already bought one, we refund that purchase in full.
- After the offer: the inviter gets half price ($7.50), or a half refund if they already bought one.
- One reward per successful purchase. You cannot refer yourself. Rewards are verified and issued by hand, by email.
- If the referred purchase is refunded or charged back, the reward is cancelled.
Your money is protected
- No payment before you try it — the trial costs nothing and does not require a card.
- PayPal Buyer Protection — pay as “goods and services”; if the licence never arrives, you can open a dispute with PayPal.
- Full refund if the code does not work — if a licence fails to activate and we cannot fix it, we refund it in full.
- Referral refunds follow the same route — full during the offer, half afterwards, through PayPal.
- We never see your card details — payment happens on PayPal; we only ever see your email address and the receipt.
What the licence does not include
AI requests are sent with your own API key to the provider you choose (DeepSeek, OpenAI, Anthropic and others), and are billed by that provider at their prices. Recto never sees your key and never bills you for AI usage.
Questions
- Do I need to email for a trial? No. The trial is built into the app for everyone.
- When does the trial start? On your first successful AI request, not when you install the app.
- What happens when the trial ends? The AI features lock; reading, importing, highlights, notes, the annotation list and search keep working as before. Nothing is deleted.
- Does the trial need an account or an email? No.
- Is it really 7 days? 7×24 hours from the first successful AI request.
- Can I use it on two computers? Yes, the same person may activate the same code on their own machines.
- Will it stop working after a year? No. There is no expiry date and no online check.
- What happens when the 100 licences sell out or the date passes? The offer card changes to the regular price. Purchases made while the card showed the launch price are honoured.
- Can I get an invoice? Yes — email us before paying and we send a PayPal invoice instead.

怎么买
- 从 微软商店 安装 Recto。7 天试用会在你第一次成功用上 AI 功能时自动开始。
- 正常用一个星期：导入自己的对话、选中段落问 AI、重新分章。 到这一步为止，你一分钱都没付。
- 如果觉得值得留下，用 PayPal 付 $9.99（约 ¥72），把付款凭证和你想显示在授权信息里的邮箱发到 GeRui2936@163.com。 如果 PayPal 让你选择付款类型，请选「商品或服务」—— 这样你的付款受 PayPal 买家保护覆盖。
- 通常一个工作日内会收到永久授权码。在应用里打开 设置 → 授权 → 激活，粘贴即可。激活完全离线，不需要账号， 也不会连任何激活服务器。
如果你付款时活动已经结束，就按常规价计算。当前价格以本页上方的价格卡为准。
邀请朋友：奖励给邀请人
朋友购买时，必须在付款邮件里提供你的邮箱或授权编号， 才算你的推荐；没有这两样之一的不算。
- 活动期内：邀请人获得一份免费授权。如果邀请人已经买过， 按原价全额退款。
- 活动结束后：邀请人享受半价（$7.50，约 ¥54）；已经买过的， 按半价退款。
- 同一笔成功购买只算一次推荐。不能推荐自己。推荐由作者手工核对、 邮件发放。
- 如果被推荐的那笔购买后来退款或被拒付，奖励一并取消。
你的钱有保障
- 试用前不付款 —— 试用不要钱，也不用绑卡。
- PayPal 买家保护 —— 付款时选「商品或服务」； 授权码一直没收到，可以向 PayPal 发起争议。
- 码不能用就全额退款 —— 授权码无法激活且我们修不好， 全额退款。
- 推荐退款走同一条路 —— 活动期内退全款、 活动后退一半，同样通过 PayPal。
- 我们看不到你的银行卡 —— 付款在 PayPal 完成， 我们只看到你的邮箱和付款凭证。
授权码不包含什么
AI 请求会用你自己的 API Key 发给你选定的服务商（DeepSeek、OpenAI、Anthropic 等），由服务商按他们的价格计费。Recto 看不到你的 Key，也不会向你收 AI 使用费。

- 试用还要发邮件领吗？ 不用。试用内置在应用里，人人都有。
- 试用从什么时候开始算？ 第一次成功用上 AI 功能时， 不是安装应用时。
- 试用期结束后会怎样？ AI 功能重新锁定；阅读、导入、划线、 批注、批注清单和搜索照常可用，已经有内容不会被删除。
- 试用需要账号或邮箱吗？ 不需要。
- 真的是 7 天吗？ 从第一次成功调用起算 7×24 小时。
- 能在两台电脑上用吗？ 可以，同一个人可以在自己的多台电脑上 激活同一个码。
- 一年后会不会失效？ 不会。没有有效期，也没有联网校验。
- 100 份卖完或日期到了会怎样？ 价格卡会改回常规价； 在价格卡还显示首发价时完成的购买，按首发价兑现。
- 需要发票怎么办？ 付款前发邮件，我们改用 PayPal 账单 （Invoice）发给你。
